[edit] Project Title
TULIP Visualization
[edit] Project Aim
The aim of the TULIP Visualization project is to provide a suitable visualization for the triangulation results calculated by the software.
[edit] Motivation
The current implementation of TULIP focuses on the accuracy of results and thus much focus has not been given to the visualization aspects; such as zooming in on a particular node. We intend to develop a visualization for TULIP which not only integrates the API but also presents and aesthetically pleasing UI with emphasis on presentation of results.
[edit] Project Description
The visualization provided by TULIP can be seen by executing the software.
Though the visualization meets the basic requirements, yet sophisticated features such as zooming and panning can be significantly improved.
An implementation extending the existing work, or based on Google maps or something better would be a welcome addition to the software.
[edit] Requirements
- The student will need to be or become proficient in Unix/Linux, perl, CGI scripts, Java and Javascript.
- The code will need to be production quality. Guidelines on how to write perl will be provided (see IEPM Perl Coding Style and Coding Style). Help on writing clean code is available here and here.
- The student will need to apply for and get a Unix account at SLAC and will be provided access to the relevant computers, files and databases. (contact Umar Kalim for details).
